🧹 Keeping House
A quick update on switching to Ghost, an upcoming name change, and a pay-what-ya-want model.
Who doesn't love starting the year with a bit of housekeeping?
First, if things look different, that's because they are
Long story short: I've switched over the backend of the blog from Wordpress.com to Ghost. I've been considering this switch for over a year, and I decided it was time to make the ethereal shift into the next dimension.
But put aside your fear of spooky spirits, as the disruption to you, dear reader, should be minimal. The whole post archive is here, lest you find yourself in desperate need of something I've written before that you want to get your hands back on. And if you're getting this as an email, well, I guess we can take that as a sign that the newsletter listserv successfully ported over!
Second, this blog will soon have a different name
I like the name twobitrye. I find it rolls off the tongue, and it suggests a willingness to lend my own unique two cents on any given topic. That handle isn't going anywhere, and I'll still it use it when it seems to fit.
But for the past couple of years, I've been noodling on my theory and practice of Three-Dimensional Productivity. The tagline for this site, "Writing from the crossroads of humanity & productivity," succinctly describes what I mean with that name. It's about getting things done without losing sight of what makes you a human, because that's what you are: a messy, tangled, three-dimensional human. And that's a good thing!
So, starting with next week's post, I'm renaming the blog to 3DProductivity, which should help newcomers more immediately understand just what it is I say I do here.
I find the abbreviation "3DP" to be sonically and visually pleasing, and I'll likely refer to the theory as such throughout entries, but it isn't in and of itself descriptive enough to be the core name of the blog. So, 3DProductivity it is.
There are some technical reasons I'm doing a phased transition here (this week to the new Ghost service, and next week to the new blog name), but the most important reason is perhaps the most obvious: I didn't want y'all to suddenly get an email from a site you had never heard of without warning. If you're like me, it takes about two nanoseconds to mark something as spam these days.
Third, while all content will remain free, I'm starting a pay what ya want thingy
I was asked recently how I keep my blog ad-free. The answer is essentially that I pay to keep it that way! The combined services, not counting my own time administering or writing, run me something like $400 a year. I would love to cover those costs through my writing and your support this year. If you're so inclined, you'll be able to start doing so next week once the name change is finalized.

I'm excited for what's to come in these pages in 2026. I'm kicking off a series next week that I think longtime readers will like and learn from, and hey, perhaps it'll attract some new folks along the way.
Interdimensionaly Yours,
Rye
